7 And he must be well thought of by[a] those outside the faith,[b] so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap.[c]
8 Deacons likewise must be dignified,[d] not two-faced,[e] not given to excessive drinking,[f] not greedy for gain, 9 holding to the mystery of the faith[g] with a clear conscience.
